Batch
The batch tier (gpt-5:batch) is 50% cheaper than standard. Batch requests are queued and answered asynchronously, typically within 24 hours, so it suits work nobody is waiting on: evaluations, back-fills, bulk classification and tagging. Anything a user is waiting on belongs on the standard tier.
Pro
gpt-5-pro is 12× standard. Pro tiers spend more compute on each request. At 12 times the price, route only the hard cases to it, the ones where gpt-5 gets the answer wrong, and keep everything else on standard. Pro is also sold as batch (gpt-5-pro:batch), 6× standard, for hard problems that can wait a day.
Chat, Search API variants
